The Writing Center at ICB is located in ICB 101.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Sessions are 50 minutes long. Consultants are required to use the final 10 minutes of every hour to enter data and rest between sessions.
  2. You can only make appointments 10 days in advance.
  3. You can only cancel or modify your appointments up to 2 hours before the start time. This policy is designed to discourage last-minute cancellations that prevent other students from using available appointments.
  4. If you do not show for your appointment or are more than 5 minutes late, your appointment may be marked a No-Show and cancelled so that the Center can assist students who are waiting. If you accrue 3 No-Shows, your account will be deactivated and can only be reactivated by emailing Drew.Bixby@ucdenver.edu.
  5. You may not have more than one WCOnline account at a time. Any student discovered to have more than one account may be banned from using the Writing Center.
  6. You can use the Wait List feature by clicking the small clock icon in the top left corner of each day. Note that you will not automatically be added to appointment slots: You will receive an email or text message notification (depending on your profile preferences) if appointments become available, you will still need to login to WCOnline to make that appointment.

If you have any questions about the Writing Center or the WCOnline scheduling system, please email Drew.Bixby@ucdenver.edu.

ABOUT THE ICB DROP BOX

The ICB Drop Box is an asynchronous service -- you attach a file and receive feedback via in-text comments and an explanatory letter.

You must upload/attach a file to your appointment by its start time or your appointment will be marked a "No Show."

Your document will be reviewed and returned with comments within 24 hours from the calendar date/time on the scheduling system.

Consultants will read and provide specific feedback on up to 10 pages typed and double-spaced (~2500 words) with a focus on the areas you indicated on the appointment form. Comments will focus on a maximum of

  • One Higher Order Concern: thesis, argument, analysis, organization, etc. AND/OR
  • One Lower Order Concern: grammar, syntax, citation, word choice, etc.

However, this is not a copyediting service. For more focused help on sentence-level issues, please make an appointment for our in-person services.

When your document has been reviewed, you will receive an email with your feedback attached, including an explanatory letter and your original file with comments inserted. You may see an additional email from The Writing Center indicating that your appointment has been modified. You may also choose to login to WCOnline, open your appointment, and scroll down to retrieve the attached files with comments.

You can not simultaneously submit to the ICB Drop Box and have in-person appointments in ICB 101 for the same assignment.

Having trouble logging in? Enter your email address below and then click "Reset Password." The system will immediately email you with instructions for changing your password. If you do not receive that email in a few minutes, please check your spam filter.

Receiving unwanted text messages from this system? This system can send appointment reminder and waiting list notifications via text message, but only if a cell phone number and carrier is entered by a client when creating or updating an account on the system.

If you have an account on the system, log in to edit your profile and modify your cell phone preferences. If you do not have an account on this system, it's possible that your cell phone number was entered accidentally. Fill out the form below to remove your number immediately.
